Moderate Snow across Michigan; Quiet Minnesota

Here is a look at 18z today, when we had northwesterly winds. It's interesting to note that this is the storm that has brought upward of 5+ inches of snow to Lower Michigan. For some reason, the storm track is tending to be further south, thus swinging the lows across IN/IL/MI storm track. Though in the northland, things are rather quiet on the backside of the system. This is a big reason why I like forecasting for the northland. So many cool systems tracking across the country, where are they going to go to next?

It was nice to see quite a bit of sunshine across Duluth and Superior today, thanks to those low RH's, and being in between systems. No real source of high pressure, but still nice to have some ample sunshine despite temps in the teens and 20's...whooosh! I'm not sure I'm ready for this cold weather, much less my truck.

Big Storms for the Southeast!

The surface map by 2pm tomowwow afternoon has the low pressure over central Alabama with a warm front across northern Georgia and into the Carolinas. A strong southerly flow exists ahead of this system with winds 15-20mph +. Precip looks concentrated near to the low and warm front boundary. Will have to watch for the potential of severe weather going into tomorrow for this region.

Here is the 850mb map that shows the winds increasing up to 55mph over Alabama and Georgia. The purple line indicates the freezing temp. So sharp temp contrast and strong southwesterly winds by Saturday afternoon.
